Chinchero is a little village on the road from Cusco to Urubamba, about 28 km away from Cusco. Here Tupac Inca Yupanqui built
a palace. Nowadays, its ruins
are open to the public. The village and also houses, a beautiful
church were built on Inca foundations.
But the main attraction is the Sunday market, where farmers
from the valley originally bartered with the population of the highlands.Today this colorful
market is still an authentic display of life in the Andes. A wide
selection of handicrafts and
textiles is available. Many of
them are still made with original
pre-Columbian patterns.
