The Paracas peninsula is a protected nature reserve on
the coast of Peru, known for
its “Candelabro”, a 180 m high
sand depiction of a chandelier.
Paracas is a little town with a pleasant boardwalk and a couple
of hotels, but the Ballestas Islands are the real attraction. The “Little Galapagos-islands” provide a
shelter for thousands of sea lions, sea birds and the Humboldt penguin.
