Tarapoto, known as “the city of palms”, could also be called the
city of “bikes, motor scooters
and motor taxis” as all traffic is almost exclusively on two-wheeled vehicles. Its cuisine is the most diversified in the jungle. The area
is famous for its crayfish and "juane", made with rice, chicken and eggs, all wrapped up in leaves of bijao.
