Selva

Selva: Although the Selva makes up more than half (60%) of the land, only 13 % of Peruvians call it home. In this region, people have lived in isolation of the world for centuries. A visit to this part of the country is a unique opportunity for travelers to learn about these well-preserved ancient traditions. The Selva inhabitants are kind and welcoming, proud of showing visitors local animals and their way of life in harmony with nature. A number of languages have been preserved in the rainforest, many of them spoken by only thousands of people. Fish, accompanied by rice and bananas, fruit and yucca (cassava) are the most typical dishes.
